How It All Began

It was 115 degrees outside during the summer of 2016 -- you guessed it, in Arizona! We sat back and decided it was time to really give back to our community, to our country, to the people who we believed were American heroes.

We have family lineage to serving America. Our grandfathers and uncles who served in foreign wars many years ago -- uncles, sisters and cousins who serve us today. We are so privileged to have familial ties to these wonderful souls.

In part, The Rustic Patriot didn't even have a name when we created the first flag. Our twins were 2.5 years old when we separated them into different rooms. The theme for our son's bedroom was 'America & Planes' -- red, white and blue. Starting with the end in mind, we purchased the rustic bed frame that reminded us of the wrought iron and steel from the 1950's and 1960's. We then added a comforter with planes (both of our grandfather's flew planes in the military -- spending much of their time serving in Vietnam). The wall décor was planes, clocks (with different time zones representing different states where we had strong ties) -- and of course, a wood cutout of the United States of America. It turned out beautiful -- but there was something missing. A few days later, the American Flag came to mind -- and "WAH LA!" -- the love flowed into the first flag design that we now call: The Rustic Patriot.

After our sons bedroom was finished, family would come over and specifically ask about the flag -- where did you get it? was it expensive? we need one! We quickly glanced at each other and started thinking about the wonderful country we live in... and how we should give back in more profound ways. We quickly began designing a few more concepts to honor our family -- they could proudly hang one in their homes too!

Then came 'The Rustic Patriot' -- and how you see it today. We are proud to live in America and so thankful for those who serve our country. To us, the American flag, represents love and freedom -- it's iconic, beautiful and timeless.

We hope you enjoy your TRP purchase and hang it with pride in your home too! Enjoy.

Cheers, TRP
